Freedom Line: Non-Alcoholic Beer Crafted Without GlutenUpdated 6 days ago

Go Brewing's Freedom line consists of three premium non-alcoholic craft beers crafted without gluten: Freedom Cali Pale, Freedom Amber, and Freedom Hazy IPA. Each beer is brewed with millet, buckwheat, and oats—delivering authentic craft beer flavor for those with gluten sensitivities, celiac disease, or anyone choosing a gluten-conscious lifestyle.

Quick Facts

  • Alcohol Content: <0.5% ABV (non-alcoholic)
  • Calories: 70-90 per 12 oz can
  • Gluten Status: Crafted without gluten (see important note below)
  • Brewing Location: Naperville, Illinois
  • Availability: Online ordering, taproom, and select retailers

Important: Why We Say "Crafted Without Gluten" (Not "Gluten-Free")

All Freedom beers are brewed entirely without gluten-containing ingredients, using millet, buckwheat, and oats instead of barley. However, Go Brewing does not label them as "gluten-free" because:

  1. Our facility also produces barley-based beers (which contain gluten)
  2. Despite rigorous cleaning protocols, we cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination
  3. We prioritize transparency and consumer safety over marketing claims

For consumers with celiac disease or severe gluten sensitivity: These beers are crafted with your needs in mind, but please consult with your healthcare provider to determine if they're appropriate for your individual dietary requirements.

The Go Brewing Process: How We Brew Without Gluten

Every Freedom beer follows our proprietary three-step process designed to minimize gluten exposure while maximizing flavor.

Step 1: Premium Gluten-Free Grain Selection

We source millet, buckwheat, and certified gluten-free oats exclusively from specialized facilities. These grains are specifically chosen to replicate the:

  • Flavor complexity of traditional barley malts
  • Body and mouthfeel craft beer drinkers expect
  • Color profiles appropriate to each beer style

Step 2: Enhanced Brewery Sanitation Protocol

Our Freedom beers receive specialized cleaning attention beyond our standard rigorous protocols:

  • Deep brewhouse cleaning: Every surface is scrubbed, including areas typically given less attention
  • Lauter screen removal: Individual screens are removed and hand-scrubbed to eliminate any trapped grain particles
  • Equipment inspection: Visual and physical inspection of all brewing equipment before each Freedom batch
  • Fermentation tank sterilization: All fermentation vessels, packaging lines, and transfer equipment undergo extra cleaning cycles

Step 3: Enzyme Treatment

When transferring finished beer to the brite tank for packaging, we add a specialized enzyme that breaks down gluten proteins. While our beers are already brewed without gluten-containing ingredients, this additional step provides:

  • Extra assurance for gluten-sensitive consumers
  • Reduced protein haze for better clarity
  • Additional peace of mind through redundant safety measures

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Freedom beers safe for people with celiac disease?

Freedom beers are crafted entirely without gluten-containing ingredients and undergo additional gluten-reduction treatment with Clarex enzyme. However, they are produced in a facility that also handles barley. We recommend consulting with your healthcare provider to determine if these beers are appropriate for your specific dietary needs.

What does "crafted without gluten" mean?

"Crafted without gluten" means the recipe contains zero gluten-containing ingredients (no wheat, barley, or rye). We use millet, buckwheat, and oats instead. We cannot claim "gluten-free" certification due to shared facility usage with barley-based beers.

Are Freedom beers truly non-alcoholic?

Yes. All Freedom beers contain less than 0.5% ABV, meeting the FDA standard for non-alcoholic beverages. This is comparable to the trace alcohol found in ripe bananas or fruit juices.

How do Freedom beers taste compared to regular craft beer?

Freedom beers are designed to deliver authentic craft beer flavor profiles. Most consumers cannot distinguish them from traditional alcoholic craft beers in blind taste tests. The use of specialty grains and traditional brewing methods ensures full flavor.

Can I buy Freedom beers online?

Yes. All Freedom beers are available for purchase through the Go Brewing website with shipping to most US states. They're also available at our taproom in Naperville, Illinois, and at select retail locations.

How should I store Freedom beers?

Store in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate before serving. Each can includes a "Born-On-Date" for freshness tracking. For optimal flavor, consume within 120 days of the born-on date.

Do Freedom beers contain any allergens besides gluten?

Freedom beers contain oats (certified gluten-free). They do not contain dairy, nuts, soy, or other common allergens. All ingredients are listed on each can.
